Dr. Ceana Nezhat is the leading pioneer in the field of laparoscopic surgery, specializing in laparoscopic treatment of severe endometriosis involving multiple organs, laparoscopic management of infertility, and urologic and pelvic reconstruction. He has been instrumental in modifying many established procedures performed by laparotomy to laparoscopy with similar or improved outcomes. Examples of such include pelvic reconstruction, vaginal vault suspension, and treatment of urologic, gastrointestinal, and extragenital endometriosis.

Dr. Nezhat has a special interest in endometriosis and is an advocate of early detection and treatment. He has treated thousands of women with endometriosis, including teens and some as young as ten. Currently, he is increasing awareness of this disorder by educating those in primary roles in the lives of young women, such as teachers, school counselors and nurses. He is also active in educating other healthcare providers, including pediatricians and family practicioners, on the signs and symptoms of endometriosis to promote early detection.

His practice, in Atlanta, Georgia, is devoted to women's wellness. In addition to the highest quality of surgical skill, Dr. Nezhat offers patients his expertise in hormone therapy and reproductive medicine. While his primary focus is patient care, he is widely sought after for teaching and lecturing. He has conducted many courses on laparoscopic surgery and regularly serves as a medical volunteer in the U.S. and in under-developed countries. Dr. Nezhat has co-authored two text-books and over 100 book chapters and articles. He has received numerous awards regarding his teaching and educational activities. The most recent is the First Place Prize for his video "Laparoscopic Safe Abdominal Entry and Complications" at the 2004 Annual Clinical Meeting of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists. He is a member of many distinguished societies, reviewer for academic journals, and advisor to several teaching organizations.
